Social Idea Business
Challenge
Young people will be able to participate with the aim of proposing business ideas with a social character and that seek the integration of refugees and migrants into European society.
Context
The «Push Inclusion Through Youth Work» project was initiated in the context of a migration crisis that has caused many people to leave their countries because they were in danger. These people migrated to other states where their safety was not compromised, which meant that they had to start integrating into a new society. This integration and inclusion is a very complex process that can be affected by a variety of factors, from those specific to these groups to others that derive from the society in which they are trying to integrate.
The integration processes of migrants and refugees are very complex, and in many cases there are a multitude of difficulties to achieve a resounding success. This complexity made PITYW a new tool for these vulnerable groups to advance in their integration, especially the youngest ones. This was approached through an inclusion based on five fundamental thematic pillars, which were obtained after meticulous social research. This was followed by a pilot programme, in which, together with youth workers, various activities were carried out in Italy and Spain. For this pilot programme, the participation of Ukrainian refugees was also taken into account, as the implementation of the programme coincided with the beginning of the war between Ukraine and Russia. For this, a relationship was established between the implementing organisations and the organisations that managed the stay of Ukrainian refugees.
The results of this pilot programme have been good, as there has been an improvement in the integration of the refugees and migrants who have participated. For this reason, the PITYW project continues with the launch of an Entrepreneurship Lab, in which young people from all over Europe will be able to participate. This initiative aims to enable teams of young Europeans to propose social entrepreneurship ideas that promote the integration of young migrants and refugees.
The next activity proposed by PITYW is a Meeting on Social Entrepreneurship, with the title «Social Idea Business Challenge». Young people will be able to participate with the aim of proposing business ideas with a social character and that seek the integration of refugees and migrants into European society.
