A society that does not have a good system of inclusion for its citizens will give little visibility to situations of racism and discrimination and will lack a general awareness of the need to promote integration through which the rights of the community’s inhabitants are respected.
It is noted that one of the main groups of great help in this area is the youth population, who through good education about the reality faced by these people can become drivers and protagonists of change. Youth work, consisting of a wide variety of social, cultural, educational and political activities, carried out through a non-formal methodology and promoting the figure of volunteering, is considered a key element in this situation.
Of course, political responsibility also plays an enormous role in this context, as it is up to the political authorities to set up systems and mechanisms focused on inclusion.
The existence of an active and involved population facilitates the whole process. Not to leave all the responsibility and the burden in one hand, but to do one’s part, creating a much more active, open, sensitised and aware society.
